It's not exactly the Homecoming game Beecher High School had hoped for this week. Friday's football game will be played minus students in the stands and limited spectators.

In a letter to students and parents on Monday, September 19th, the district outlined the schedule for the upcoming Homecoming Week. The schedule listed the normal activities such as the pep rally and the dance, but it was the football game that stood out.

This year's game Friday night against Hamady will be without students in the stands. In fact, according to the letter from Beecher Principal Lance Sumpter spectators will be very limited. Players will receive just 4 tickets a piece for family to be pre-sold at the school. Tickets will be adult only.

The decision comes after fights in the stands broke out amongst students. The incident caused last week's game between Beecher and the Flint Jaguars to be canceled at halftime.

As a result of last week's violence, the Flint Jaguars are restricting their attendance to invitation only for their next two home games starting this Friday. Flint Community Schools will allow players to invite five family members apiece and will allow athletic alumni, staff, and college scouts into the games with prior approval from the athletic director according to ABC-12.

No word on whether Beecher's final home game on October 21st will see students back in the stands.
