The Serra do Divisor National Park is located in the state of Acre in the westernmost part of Brazil. It shares its western border with Peru along the Serra Divisor mountain range. The area was designated a national park on 6/16/1989 to protect and preserve ecosystems and natural resources. A 2013 Rainforest Trust campaign resulted in the establishment of the Sierra del Divisor National Park in 2015 on the Peruvian side of the border. According to this Mongabay article, the national park designation confers additional protections that benefit plants, animals and indigenous communities.
